Stanbic, Prudential Upgrade Health Cover

Officials launch the solution in Kampala on June 16

Stanbic Bank Uganda and Prudential Assurance Uganda have enhanced their Stanbic Medi-Protect health insurance solution, introducing broader medical benefits, higher coverage limits and a new low-cost inpatient-only option aimed at making health insurance more accessible to Ugandans.

The improved package comes at a time when health insurance penetration remains low in Uganda. Out of a population of more than 48 million people, only about 500,000 Ugandans currently have medical insurance coverage, leaving many households vulnerable to high healthcare costs and financial shocks caused by illness or hospitalization.

The enhanced Medi-Protect solution will be offered through Stanbic Bank’s branch network, relationship managers and digital banking channels.

Speaking at the launch in Kampala on June 16, Israel Arinaitwe, Head of Personal Banking at Stanbic Bank Uganda, said the upgraded product responds to growing demand for healthcare solutions that match the needs and financial realities of Ugandan families.
