In the spirit of compassion, generosity and community that defines the holy month of Ramadan, Standard Chartered Uganda partnered with Salaam Charity to donate assorted food supplies to three Muslim-founded schools in Kampala, it said in a media statement.
The food items were delivered by staff from Standard Chartered Uganda together with their client, MultiChoice, to Jakayz Secondary School in Kabowa, Namasuba, and Asiyah Kids Academy in Kiteezi. The support is intended to assist students and staff as they observe the fasting period during Ramadan. The donated packages included essential food items commonly used in the preparation of meals during the holy month.
The initiative forms part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to stand alongside communities during important cultural and religious moments while supporting institutions that nurture and educate the next generation.
The handover was led by Margaret Kigozi, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing at Standard Chartered Uganda, who was accompanied by colleagues from the bank during visits to the respective schools.

The handover was led by Margaret Kigozi, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing at Standard Chartered Uganda, who was accompanied by colleagues from the bank during visits to the respective schools.
Speaking during the engagements, Margaret said the gesture reflects the bank’s Diversity and Inclusion agenda, which seeks to support both its workforce and the communities in which it operates.
“Ramadan is a time for introspection, empathy and generosity. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the rich religious and cultural traditions that define the vibrant communities we work in. At the same time, it allows us to renew our dedication to our core values and strengthen our connections with colleagues, clients and the wider community,” she said.
She added that the bank’s partnership with Salaam Charity has provided opportunities over the past three years to share in the Ramadan experience with Muslim communities.
“At Standard Chartered, we believe in walking alongside our communities during moments that matter most. Throughout our partnership with Salaam Charity, we have had the opportunity to break the fast with various Muslim communities. It is our hope that this small contribution helps make the fasting period a little easier for the beneficiaries and brings us closer to those observing this holy month,” she noted.
The visits also provided an opportunity for staff from the bank to interact with students and school leadership, reinforcing the importance of education, community solidarity and shared responsibility.
Through partnerships with organisations such as Salaam Charity, Standard Chartered Uganda continues to support initiatives aimed at strengthening communities and promoting inclusive growth across the country.
