The initiative builds on a recent activation that surprised customers at selected stores and generated positive feedback from shoppers.
One of the beneficiaries, Josephine Nansubuga, said she was caught by surprise after completing her shopping at Carrefour Lugogo and learning that customers were being offered complimentary breakfast.
“It was completely unexpected,” she said. “I had come to do my usual shopping and suddenly I was being offered tea and a snack. It was a simple gesture, but it made the experience memorable.”
Retail experts say such initiatives are becoming increasingly important as supermarkets look beyond price promotions and discounts to attract and retain customers.
With competition intensifying among major retail chains, businesses are paying greater attention to customer experience as a key factor influencing shopping decisions. Beyond product selection and pricing, retailers are increasingly focused on creating positive and memorable interactions that encourage repeat visits.
Carrefour’s latest campaign reflects a growing trend in experiential retail marketing, where brands seek to build stronger emotional connections with consumers through personalized experiences and unexpected rewards.
Industry analysts note that customer loyalty is becoming increasingly valuable as consumers gain access to a wider range of shopping options. In such an environment, creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere can be just as important as offering competitive prices.
The complimentary breakfast campaign is expected to attract early shoppers while reinforcing Carrefour’s positioning as a customer-focused retailer.
For consumers, the initiative offers a pleasant start to the day and an added incentive to shop early. For Carrefour, it represents another effort to strengthen customer relationships in a market where experience is becoming an increasingly important driver of consumer choice.
As retailers continue to explore innovative ways to engage shoppers, initiatives such as these highlight the growing importance of customer appreciation in shaping long-term brand loyalty.
